It doesn’t happen often, but the Bush family still enjoys a night out together.
On April 7, Jenna Bush Hager posted a photo of her and her sister, Barbara Bush, eating out with their parents, former President George W. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush.
“Spring feels: 25 year HS reunion, and the parents that put up with us during that time (GODbless them!),” Jenna captioned a series of photos on Instagram that also included a few snaps from their high school reunion.
The photo of the quartet together comes after the sisters told fans while they promoted their book “I Loved You First” during a tour stop in New Jersey on March 26 that they planned to catch up with their parents.
“We’re going to go to Texas on our book tour this weekend,” Barbara said before Jenna said they took a picture of the four of them the last time they were together. At the time, it was their mom's birthday.
“We took her to dinner, and we were in Texas on our book tour then, and when we went to dinner with her, we realized it was the first time it had just been the four of us at dinner for we couldn’t even remember," Barbara said.
“It was just so fun to be the four of us for the first time in a long time, and we’ll do that again this weekend,” Jenna said.
Barbara also said times have definitely changed since childhood.
“Our parents now are just living very different lives than we ever would have thought. Our dad is an artist. We didn’t see that coming,” she said.
“Not at all. It was shocking. And, in fact, when he first started his art, Barbara and I were worried about his mental health,” Jenna joked.
He’s also grown from painting stick figures to more substantial pieces that they’ve grown to appreciate.
“He’s actually a wonderful painter, and we request work from him all the time,” Barbara said.
