Reese Witherspoon is celebrating daughter Ava Phillippe following her recent acting debut.
On April 3, Phillippe, 25, appeared in an episode of the medical drama “Doctor Odyssey,” marking her first-ever television role. In the episode, titled “Spring Break,” Phillippe played one of three “college vixens,” according to ABC.
A few days after “Spring Break” aired, Witherspoon congratulated her daughter on Instagram. On April 7, she uploaded a picture to her Instagram story of her watching a scene from the episode where Phillippe and her two friends, played by Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, and TV producer Bill Lawrence’s daughter Charlotte Lawrence, lounged by the pool on the cruise ship.
“Look who is in the new episode of Dr. Odyssey!” Witherspoon captioned the snap. She also included a star-eyes emoji.
She tagged her daughter and sweetly added, “@avaphillippe so proud of you.”
Phillippe’s wardrobe in the photo featured a bright pink bikini, seemingly a nod to a similar swimsuit Witherspoon sported when she played Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde.” Witherspoon wears the sparkly bikini when she is filming her Harvard admissions video in a pool.
The official “Doctor Odyssey” Instagram account also posted about Phillippe’s guest appearance on April 2. The account uploaded a video of Phillippe encouraging viewers to watch.
“Hi, y’all! It’s Ava Phillippe playing Veronica on the 'Spring Break' episode of ‘Doctor Odyssey.’ Tune in!” she said.
The account wrote in the caption, “Never fear, Veronica is here.”
On her personal Instagram account, Phillippe shared behind-the-scenes photos of her on set with Jackson, Lawrence and Marvel star Kathryn Newton, who was also featured in the episode. “Giving y’all a taste of Spring break + lots of DRAMA on @doctorodyssey tonight #thevixens,” she captioned the slideshow.
It appears Phillippe, who is also the daughter of actor Ryan Phillippe, has recently been bitten by the acting bug like her parents after attending UC Berkeley. When previously asked during a 2021 interview with E!’s "Daily Pop" about her future, she replied, “That’s kind of what I’m trying to figure out in this stage of my life, what’s the right fit for me and what’s going to do the best for others within that context, and what can I be most impactful with.”
Her younger brother, Deacon Phillippe, already landed his first role in 2022. He played Parker in Season Three of Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever.”
